FRP structures built to last a lifetime

What is FRP

Fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) (also called fiber-reinforced polymer, or fiber-reinforced plastic) is a composite material made of a polymer matrix reinforced with Fibers. The Fibers used in our structures are glass Fibers (in Fiberglass). In recent times FRP is becoming more common in building materials and offers many advantages to its more common counterparts steel and wood.

ABOUT FIBERWALK

Fiberwalk is a unique FRP structural company. Working with our engineering and design teams we have come up with a revolutionary modular design to make the installation of boardwalks, docks, decks and cart path bridges remarkably simple. Our designs offer a very sleek and robust profile and achieves an engineered rating of 10,000 lbs equivalent to 125 psf.

The modular panels are lightweight and durable which allows for installation from the ground up or alternatively from the deck down. The resin used in the manufacturing of our FRP shapes has fire retardant properties and contain UV inhibitors which makes our structures ideal for outdoor applications. Another major benefit of our FRP structures is that they are fully sealed which avoids any concerns of leeching into the water system, this makes them one of the only choices available for environmentally sensitive areas. Our structures are not subject to rot or rust which ensures they will remain maintenance free for many years to come.

PRODUCTS

PANELS

Our modular FRP panels are designed to span 10 feet at a width of up to 8 feet. Designed and fabricated using CNC technology, they seamlessly fit together which makes the installation process extremely efficient. All panels come with shop drawings and an engineer’s stamp. The panels are rated for a loading of 10,000 lbs equivalent to 125 psf.

BENCHES

Our bench designs offer a unique modern look and feel. They are free standing which allows them to be used and fixed to all surfaces such as gravel, concrete, wood etc. The bench tops can be interchangeable from any material the client wishes.

FULL INSTALLATION

We offer a full turnkey service from your design to full installation. With our engineering partners we can offer shop and fabrication drawings which will allow our fabrication and installation team to complete the project in a timely fashion. One of the main benefits of our FRP structures is the lightweight to strength ratio which allows us to construct these boardwalks in remote areas where machinery access may not be an option.

Why FRP

1. CORROSION RESISTANCE

Our FRP structures are ideal for areas where they might be exposed to fresh water, salt water, sanitary water or even the high salt content in the air near the ocean. “FRP is inherently resistant to corrosion and erosion, and will never leach or contaminate the eco-system”

2. VIRTUALLY MAINTENANCE FREE

Our FRP structures once installed should remain virtually maintenance free. Unlike other building materials no upkeep should be required. Our FRP shapes are manufactured using a resin which is both fire retardant and has UV inhibitors, this ensures longevity of the structures when constructed in the open. FRP does not rust or rot unlike other building materials. In a marine setting barnacles and marine life do not easily adhere to FRP, and if they do they are easily cleaned from the smooth, non scaley surface.

3. STRENGTH TO WEIGHT RATIO

Our FRP structures are lightweight and strong. With similar strength characteristics to steel but at a fraction of the weight. Industry guidelines point to FRP weighing between 1/3 to ¼ the weight of a similar piece of steel.

4. COST

Our FRP structures offer competitive pricing both in the long and short term. The product has little to no maintenance costs for the lifespan of the structure and will outlast its wooden counterpart quite substantially, this coupled with the meteoric rise in lumber prices and the lack of availability makes our FRP structures a cost-effective solution to keep projects on track.

Fiberwalk offers both, a full turnkey package from your design to installation or alternatively clients can purchase 3-meter length panels and have installation provided by a third party. Our main aim is to make the FRP structure installation uncomplicated and cost effective. We believe that the modular design will speed up the installation process exponentially as well as having a lot less impact on the environment. We are here to work in tandem with all parties from the contractor to the consultant and finally the client, to make these projects go smoothly.
